My BRUNO Review!

Intro
I saw the popular "omg" movie called "BRUNO." Now before I give my full review on it, I'd like to say that I was a huge fan of BORAT. I got the humor, I got the "let's fuck with the world" idea, and I thought the "shock" treatment was pretty awesome. Needless to say, when I heard that BRUNO was coming out in theaters, I got stoked!

I did what most fanatics do. I looked up any sort of extra never before seen clips I could find of the movie, I hear Paula's interview on a radio station, I saw one of his very first "gay" charactered interviews in Germany (I believe it was) where he asked skin heads what they think of gays and such.

Now, while I watch his "practice" interviews all over youtube, I kept noticing one major slip up he kept making. When BRUNO accidentally talks like BORAT. Once I heard that I immediately cringed knowing this could suck if he doesn't work on that. A few practice interviews later, I started to see he was improving much more. So, I was still excited about the movie but my 100% level of excitement dropped to about 95%.

Once I saw the MUCH MUCH more recent interviews he did the day his movie came out, I noticed he kept his same typical sayings of "gonna be gayer than terminator" blah blah. I think I've heard that about 20 times in different interviews. I honestly started to get bored after hearing the same crap again and again. No, I'll take that back. It wasn't crap at the beginning, I laughed the first time I heard it. But I will blame myself for watching too many interviews that I bored myself out.

There was only ONE interview, just ONE that I actually enjoyed a lot. Gah, I wish I could of remembered which it was. It wasn't an American show. But they did show Bruno a picture of Borat in his green thong string bikini and asked him what he thought of Borat lol. I don't think he was expecting that because "Bruno" was quite speechless at first trying to instantly think of something clever to say lol.

THE REVIEW:
Now for my review. I will give it a 1 thumb up. I'm sorry but I was just disappointed. I expected much much more. In fact, I expected a different "drama" story line from Borat. Did they really have to do the "friend break up" "friend fight" then "friends again" thing.....AGAIN? Did they also have to do the public "piss off a large crowd" again? Really?

But let's turn the tables and look at it from Sacha Baron Cohen's point of view. I can imaging him sitting with his panel of people saying "ha wouldn't it be funny if we can fuck with the world's head using the same crap again and people STILL fall for it?" Oh yea, I can see it from his point of view. And yes, good one haha, you got a crowd at a UFC cage fight to love you then hate you in less than 5 mins. yay. But what about the rest of us that wanted a whole new thing with Bruno? And not the same story all over again? If you ask me, I would really rather call Bruno a common TV show Sitcom. It wasn't "movie" material for me.

Gah, who the fuck knows, maybe I spoiled myself with all those interviews I saw all over youtube and I just expected so much more in the movie. In fact, I think I laughed more at the youtube videos of his interviews than the actually movie. Maybe they didn't go all out BECAUSE our conservative world gets pissed off that easily? Well, in the interviews I saw, they talked about how he did so much more in the scenes with Paula and the terrorist. Once I saw the movie, I didn't see any of that extra "cross the line" stuff I wanted to see. So, that is also what made my 2 thumbs up to a 1 thumb up.

One last thing that disappointed me? I heard his Borat voice slip ups in the movie more than 5 times! Rush job? Hmm.

My overall rating?
3 stars.
